Salon Orchestra

This diverse and lively ensemble with an emphasis on woodwind instruments was created by composer Jukka Kortelainen in the beginning of 1970. He customised plenty of material for this ensemble.

This breezy toned and versatile woodwind band has been a part of the Helsinki Police Band since early 2014. The ensemble has a little bit of every music style, everything from waltz to swing and operetta to musicals.

Dance music is part of the repertoire too. Typical events for performing include for example cocktail or small parties. The ensemble also performs as a hall band, providing background music.

Jarmo Rouvinen acts as the artistic chief.

The Salon Orchestra consists of: flute, two clarinets, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, contrabass, and drums.
