Sami Ruusuvuori, Doctor of Music, is the Chief Conductor of the Helsinki Police Symphonic Band. He has previously served as the conductor of the Guards Band, the official representative band of the President of the Republic of Finland.

Ruusuvuori works across both classical and popular music genres and has conducted bands around the world. In spring 2022, he earned his doctorate with a dissertation titled The Symphonic Wind Band and the European Repertoire Composed for It – the first doctoral degree of its kind at the Sibelius Academy, which has attracted international attention.

Since 2023, Ruusuvuori has served as President of the Finnish Wind Band Association and, from autumn 2024, as a board member of WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles).

Heikki Elo has served as the Assistant Conductor of the Police Orchestra since 2016. He began studying violin at the age of seven in Pori and has since studied music in the United States, at the Kuopio Conservatory, and at the Oulunkylä Pop and Jazz Conservatory. Later, his studies continued at the University of the Arts Helsinki, Sibelius Academy, from where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Music, specializing in Wind Orchestra Conducting, in 2013.

As a conductor, Elo has led all of the Finnish Defence Forces’ orchestras and has also conducted the orchestras of cities such as Oulu, Kuopio, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, and Pori, as well as the Vantaa Orchestra.

Elo has composed and arranged a wide variety of music. His body of work includes, among others, a violin concerto, a string orchestra piece, wind music, as well as vocal and game music. Internationally, Elo is known for orchestrating and producing film scores, such as for Big Game (2015).

Elo is a collaborator with several entertainment artists, both on stage and in the studio. He has arranged and produced albums for multiple artists and has acted as their conductor during concerts and tours (e.g., Jari Sillanpää, Olympic Stadium 2015). His music has been featured in several television series, and he has also appeared as the conductor and arranger in music programs. Elo was also responsible for the Helsinki Police Symphonic Band’s recorded productions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
